The ship loaded with pipes for IndonesiaPublished 6 December 2002
Pipe projects realised by NKT Flexibles in the past seven years have included oil and gas fields in the North Sea, off the east coast of South America and the west coast of Africa. NKT Flexibles is now turning its attention to the Far East and China.
Right now NKT Flexibles’ factory in Kalundborg is finalising a consignment of pipes that is to be shipped to the West Seno field off the east coast of Kalimantans (Borneo). The pipes, due to be delivered in December 2002, will be shipped from NKT Flexibles’ factory on the quayside in Kalundborg. The technical installation of the pipes will be done by Australian company Clough Offshore.
In the consignment will be three risers (a pipe that goes from the seabed up through the water to a production platform or transport vessel). More specifically, there will be one 6" riser and two 12" risers. The 6" riser must be able to withstand a temperature of 130oC, while the 12" risers need to be able to withstand 65oC. Each of the three pipes, which will be installed in a gas exploration field, is around 250 metres in length.
