Air canals bring new light to lasersPublished 3 July 2003
Researchers at Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany, have demonstrated that it is possible to create light intensities of > 1000 W with the new air-clad fibre manufactured by NKT’s company Crystal Fibre.
The groundbreaking research results were presented in May at a major optics conference in Baltimore, USA.
Researchers point to applications for the new crystal fibre in industry where it can be used as a very effective component in laser products and systems.
