Premiere for online monitoring of offshore pipesAfter a comprehensive product development process, NKT Flexibles has come up with a technological solution for measuring both temperature and stress in steel-reinforced offshore pipelines.
This groundbreaking solution, based on optical fibre technology, has now resulted in an advanced monitoring system. The system will be a major asset in conjunction with operation and maintenance of the offshore pipes used by the oil companies to carry oil and gas.
The new optical monitoring system will receive its global premiere as part of an order supplied to Statoil. The order consists of flexible pipes for use in upgrading the Norne FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) facility in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and will include a stress measurement monitoring system.
