Growing interest in optical fibre based fire detectionCologne-based LIOS Technology has achieved a strong position in Europe and the Far East as a supplier of optical based temperature measuring systems for fire detection in road and rail tunnels, as well as other locations where effective fire warning can prevent disasters or serious material damage.
Recently, K.P. Expressway in Singapore opted to install a fire detection system based on LIOS' OTS 100 system for new road tunnels.
- At LIOS we have specialised in fibre optical sensing equipment that measures increases in temperature to register fire risk - or provides instant feedback if suddenly fire breaks out.
- Most of the systems we have supplied to date are installed in tunnels and other hazardous constructions as part of a general fire alarm system. We have done this in close cooperation with Siemens Building Technology FIS, says LIOS Chief Executive Stefan Daiser.
