Jutland water for Funen tapsPublished 30 September 2005
A 5 km long submarine pipeline carrying drinking water from Jutland to Funen is scheduled to enter service in December 2005. The pirpeline manufacturer is NKT Flexibles.
In mid September the mayors of Middelfart on the island of Funen and Fredericia in eastern Jutland cut the first sod for a submarine pipeline project that will shortly supply Funen with drinking water from Jutland. Jakob Zeuner, Area Sales Manager, NKT Flexibles, explains that water from the waterworks Tørskind-Vork and Follerup in Jutland is to be transferred in the new pipeline via Fredericia to Middelfart.
- The order was received in July 2005 and the flexible pipeline to carry the water is now completed and ready for shipment from our factory in Kalundborg. The project specifies a 1.2 km long pipeline with an internal diameter of 200 mm and a high-pressure steel-reinforced plastic liner that is approved for drinking water. The pipe has been fabricated in a single continuous section, thereby avoiding below-water connection joints, says Jakob Zeuner.
