Best paperAs well as creating contacts and gathering inspiration, the NKT delegation made positive contributions to both the exhibition and the conference. So successful were they that the paper given by Ole Lumholt of Crystal Fibre was rated far and away the best in the ‘Post Deadline Papers’ category where the very latest R&D results in fibre optics are presented.
“Ole Lumholt’s paper attracted a very large audience. He talked about the Crystal Fibre R&D group's development of a brand-new product - a hair-thin, so-called ‘single-mode’ fibre designed for a super-high intensity of around 100 kW peak power. The potential applications - primarily in laser technology - are enormous,” says Søren Isaksen.
“We have never previously experienced such great interest and demand as this year, and we came home with a large contact portfolio. We have always been among the absolute leaders because one of our strengths, compared with our competitors, is our speed at putting our development products into practical industrial application. We work with modular sub-assemblies, which means we supply finished modules for inclusion in other people’s products,” explains Søren Isaksen.
