Open shareholder registersKarsten Kristiansen took the rostrum on behalf of the Danish Shareholders Association. He thanked the Chairman of the Board of Directors for a good report following an otherwise difficult year with falling share prices due to the economic crisis. Among other things, Karsten Kristiansen urged the Board of Directors to open the register of shareholders. “Why should only the Board of Directors be allowed to see who has shares?” asked Karsten Kristiansen.
Replying, Christian Kjær said that NKT had no particular objection to this, but that it could have certain drawbacks. For example, there might be foreign investors who did not wish to be known, whereas NKT needed to know them in order to be able to hold a dialogue with them. “So at the present time I do not think this is a good idea. But we will certainly look at this issue if massive demand is received from foreign shareholders and the major Danish shareholders.”
