The making of NKT Exhibition Centre

The NKT Exhibition Centre was established by NKT in conjunction with NKT’s centenary in 1998.

In NKT’s basements and archives we discovered thousands of artefacts which together recall a fascinating chapter in Denmark’s history. As well as telling the story of how NKT started and developed, the museum describes how the Nilfisk vacuum cleaner found its way into Danish homes and how LK’s plugs and switches became an integral part of our living room. In short, it covers Denmark’s electrification and industrialization and the explosive growth in prosperity which took place in 20th century Denmark.

The museum took three years to put together, and it was only possible thanks to the support lent to the project by NKT employees in the form of knowledge and commitment. The result is a modern and contemporary collection which covers the 100-year period in Danish history when electricity revolutionized industry and everyday life.

But the museum is not only about the distant past. The collections are continuously updated and in the entrance hall you can see advanced laser equipment, cable recycling, flexible pipelines for deep-see application and industrial vacuum cleaners.
